We are delighted that this week we have reached a milestone 1,000 members in each of the User Groups which CirrusHQ run! AWS User groups are peer-to-peer communities which meet regularly to share ideas, answer questions, and learn about new services and best practices.

Here at CirrusHQ we have the honour of running the Amazon Web Services User Group Glasgow which has seen our 1,000 member join this week. This group meets once a quarter and we are pleased to be back running in person events after a hiatus over the past few years. Our friends at JPMorgan & Chase are kindly hosting our next event on 25th April in their Glasgow offices and we’d love to meet some of the new faces in the group. These events are always a fantastic opportunity to network with your peers, as well as hear from some of the most knowledgable in the community; and with pizza and beer on offer, what is not to love?! Why not visit our Meetup page and see what we have in store for April – we hope yo see you there!

Not only do we run the Glasgow User Group but we also run the AWS User Group in Edinburgh which has over 1,300 members and the Edinburgh DevOps Meetup with over 1,500 members! COMING SOON – CirrusHQ Acuity Platform

Research has shown that organisations that are using cloud computing solutions struggle to describe what they have deployed in the cloud, who deployed it and when, how it is maintained from a security perspective and critically, what happens if it changes. This is where Acuity from CirrusHQ comes in.

COMING SOON to partners and customers, CirrusHQ’s Software as a Service (SaaS) Cloud Management System will allow users worldwide to better manage their cloud environments’ performance, reliability, security, cost, operations and sustainability.

What Acuity brings is real-time event analysis of AWS applications and infrastructure, allowing the right people access to the right information, at the right time. By doing so, customers are able to quickly react to and resolve potential issues before they incur downtime, excess costs or data breaches.

Aggregating data across your AWS accounts and presenting this in a customised dashboard will provide customers easy to use access to all the data needed. A key launch feature of the Acuity platform is CloudFormation Drift Detection which updates in real-time, allowing customers the ability to quickly identify where intervention or improvement is needed and rapidly resolve those issues.

Bespoke to each client, the platform includes best practices and benchmarks deriving from CirrusHQ’s extensive familiarity with the AWS platform.

The Acuity Platform will be available to purchase via the AWS Marketplace starting at $60 USD per month per AWS account.

Keep up to date with the new features and functions of CirrusHQ’s Acuity Platform on our website and social media channels.

Leading AWS Cloud Specialist CirrusHQ adds new office locations

To help meet rising demand for its services and the spread of a growing client base, leading Public Cloud Consulting and Solution Specialist CirrusHQ has opened new offices in Bristol and Birmingham, to complement those in Edinburgh, Oxford and London.

James Lucas, CirrusHQ CEO commented: “Our business has been ahead of the recent trend of remote working, having adopted this model many years ago. Our focus has always been on what our people can do for our clients, rather than where they do it.

“Although this enabled us to rise to the challenge of the pandemic and recruit the best talent wherever they are based, the human desire to meet in person is still important, which is why we have opened these two new offices.

“Whilst many organisations suffered severe disruption in 2020/21, we worked hard to minimise the impact caused by the need for remote working for many of our clients, particularly in the education sector, when distance learning became the norm, not the exception.

“It also appears that many organisations took the opportunity to consider and re-assess their long-term strategic goals, with Cloud and AWS Cloud in particular playing a leading role in their future direction, as the benefits become clear.

“For CirrusHQ, this has delivered a strong performance in 2021, with a doubling of customer numbers and an increase of 250% in project numbers over the previous year and a significant jump in Well Architected Reviews (WAR) undertaken.

“This year also saw CirrusHQ launch its FastStart proof of concept solution, designed to help organisations innovate faster and safer on the AWS cloud, whilst helping clients apply for AWS funding to support development and cost of delivery.

“This innovation and success is also driving our current recruitment campaign for top AWS Cloud talent. And with new people, comes a need for new spaces in which to collaborate with colleagues and clients alike, which is why we selected Bristol and Birmingham as new office locations.

“It is hoped as the UK economy returns to some semblance of normality, we can again meet safely in person to discuss in depth the opportunities and challenges organisations most face. to help drive their digital transformation and innovation in the Cloud.”

Leading Public Cloud Consulting and Solution Specialist CirrusHQ has announced the arrival of its latest recruits, Senior Solutions Architect Alex James and Solutions Architect Daniel Shone, as demand continues to grow for professional services in cloud transformation, cloud migration and managed cloud support services.

Alex joins from education and research specialists JISC, while Daniel joins from Intelligent Distributed Controls, a leading supplier of services to the materials handling industry. Both are Amazon Web Services (AWS) certified engineers who add their significant talents to CirrusHQ’s extensive certification in the AWS Cloud.

Jan Lucas, CirrusHQ Chief Commercial Officer commented on the new recruits: “It is gratifying that yet again the compelling story we pitch to potential recruits, enables us to attract this calibre of talent to our business, which significantly strengthens our AWS Cloud offering.

“In the decade since our foundation, we have grown our team significantly, which not only demonstrates the success of our strategy, but mirrors the rise of AWS, as the benefits of their Cloud services became more evident.

“This is a critical time for Cloud, as organisations across the public and private sectors have had to rapidly adapt from the disruption caused by the pandemic and with new ambition that recognises what Cloud is capable of and how it can move them forward.

“Importantly, the majority are recognising the advantages of working with an experienced, ambitious AWS Partner, such as CirrusHQ, with specialist knowledge to help them accelerate their digital transformation in the AWS Cloud. This demand is driving our current recruitment campaign.

New CirrusHQ Senior Solutions Architect Alex James, said of his appointment: “It is good to find a business like CirrusHQ that shares my passion for AWS Cloud and all that it can deliver. An important reason to move to CirrusHQ, is their internal training and support network, which shows their commitment to their people.

“As a UK leading AWS Partner, their AWS Education Competency, was also another attraction, given the expectation of growth in the sector in the coming years, as education establishments increase and improve their remote access capabilities.”

In a recent AWS EMEA Public Sector Partner Executive Briefings, John Newson, Senior Manager, Public Sector Partners, UK&I, AWS was in conversation with Mohammed Shiffa, IT Manager Infrastructure & Applications at Nottingham College.

Nottingham College is one of the largest further education and higher education colleges in the United Kingdom. Based in the city of Nottingham in England, it provides education and training from pre-entry through to university-degree level at its 10 centres in the city and around Nottinghamshire. Nottingham College has over 23,000 students and 1400 staff.

Shiffa discussed the impact of a cyber attack on the college, which occurred earlier this year in 2021. He also explains how working with AWS and CirrusHQ helped stop the sophisticated attack in time and reverse detrimental effects. As quoted by Shiffa, this successful failure was not only from intercepting the cyber attack in a timely manner but coming out stronger from the experience with a stronger security posture.

Shiffa also explains the key benefits gained from working with CirrusHQ as an AWS Advanced Consulting Partner and with AWS Education competency; it was not only CurrusHQ’s experience and expertise which helped address an inhouse skills gap within the college for such a situation, but also support a short and longer term IT strategic plan for their digital transformation.
